Volunteers sought for Patuxent River cleanup

Wednesday - 4/4/2012, 9:30am  ET

LAUREL, Md. (AP) - Volunteers are being sought to help clean the Patuxent River.

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission says volunteers are needed this Saturday to help pull trash, branches and debris from drains near the waterway. Organizers says the cleanup not only benefits the river, the longest entirely in Maryland, but also helps the restoration of the Chesapeake Bay, which is fed by the Patuxent.

Volunteers will work from 9 a.m. until noon at the Supplee Recreation Area in Laurel.
