BLUEFIELD, Va. - The former administrator of the Bluefield Rescue Squad is facing embezzlement charges.
Media outlets report that the Tazewell County grand jury charged Thomas Franklin Carroll with embezzling more than $100,000 from the squad. The embezzlement occurred from January 2008 until June 2011.
The Virginia State Police says an investigation found misuse of multiple credit cards, pay adjustment without proper approval and a loan that was obtained using rescue squad equipment as collateral.
Carroll turned himself Tuesday and remains free on $10,000 unsecured bond.
