WASHINGTON - Officials say they have extinguished a fire at a State Department building in northwest Washington and no injuries have been reported.
A spokesman for the D.C. fire department, Battalion Chief Brian K. Lee, says the fire broke out about 6 a.m. Tuesday on the fifth floor of a State Department annex building at 24th and E streets. A State Department spokeswoman says the building is across the street from the main State Department building.
Lee says the fire was contained to the fifth floor and that the building was evacuated.
He says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
