RICHMOND, Va. - A project to gather the stories of Virginians who lived through desegregation of the state's public schools is coming to Richmond.

The Desegregation of Virginia Education Project, or DOVE, will conduct oral history interviews Saturday at Armstrong High School.

The project, based at Old Dominion University, is a statewide collaboration among several universities, libraries and archives. That group, the AARP, the Virginia NAACP and the Urban League of Hampton Roads are holding several events called "Preserve, Learn and Empower" to gather personal stories and artifacts from the 1940s to the 1980s. The Richmond event is set for 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.
