3 plead guilty to robberies in Va., NC

RICHMOND, Va. - Three men have pleaded guilty to a string of robberies in Virginia and North Carolina, including one that resulted in the death of a Richmond convenience store clerk.

Federal prosecutors say 35-year-old Vance Hamm of Rocky Mount, N.C., pleaded guilty Monday to a robbery conspiracy. Earlier this month, 35-year-old William Langley Jr. of Rocky Mount and 27-year-old Stephen White of Hampton, Va., pleaded guilty to robbery conspiracy and aiding and abetting in the use of a gun resulting in death.

Langley and White participated in a 2005 robbery the led to the shooting death of Robert Rush. Hamm was not involved in this robbery.

Hamm faces up to 20 years in prison, while Langley and White face maximum life terms. Sentencing is set for June 28.
