BALTIMORE - The head of Baltimore's Walters Art Museum is leaving after 18 years.
Gary Vikan says he will leave in June 2013 or when his successor is in place.
The 65-year-old Vikan has been at the museum since 1985. He spent nine years in the curatorial department before becoming the museum's director in 1994.
Under Vikan's leadership the museum made admission free in 2006, expanded its Web presence and raised more than $65 for its capital and endowment funds.
