GLOUCESTER, Va. - The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved a grant of more than $1 million to elevate and protect 11 residences in Gloucester County from flooding.

The agency says the properties were damaged as a result of repetitive flooding. The funding will help reduce future flood risk and keep the property owners in the community.

FEMA is paying 75 percent of the total costs for the project through its hazard mitigation grant program.
