2 lanes of I Street blocked due to protest — now open

WASHINGTON – Two lanes of traffic in the 1300 block of I Street were blocked because of a protest, and have since reopened.

Metropolitan Police say the roughly 50 protesters were moved off the street. Police cars were blocking the lanes.

Police tell WTOP the protesters may have been connected to the Occupy movement, which had camped out in nearby McPherson Square.

At about 10 a.m., police said via Twitter that all lanes in the 1300 block of I Street were open.

There’s no word whether any arrests have been made.
