2nd Md. man charged in road rage incident

WASHINGTON – The man police say rammed his car into the vehicle of a driver who stabbed him near Crofton, Md. is facing assault charges, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

It’s the latest arrest in one of the area’s high-profile road rage cases.

Jeffrey Neil Furlough, 44, of Brooklyn Park, Md., faces two counts of First Degree Assault and two counts of Second Degree Assault. He turned himself in to Anne Arundel County Police at around 6 p.m. Thursday, according to police spokesman Justin Mulcahy.

The incident started in the Crofton area on Monday afternoon along Route 3. Police say a driver and passenger in a 2002 Ford Explorer got out of the truck and exchanged seats, possibly more than once.

Furlough was in the Explorer, and wound up exchanging words with a passenger in a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser, 23-year-old Ross Brandon Sudbrook, of Baltimore. At the intersection of Route 3 North and Riedel Road, Sudbrook got out of his car and stabbed Furlough.

Sudbrook got back in the PT Cruiser, which drove off. Furlough chased the Chrysler and rammed it, heavily damaging both vehicles. The two then began to fight, and ultimately Furlough subdued Sudbrook and waited for officers to arrive.

Sudbrook was treated for his injuries, and booked on charges of First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment and Carrying a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to Injure on Tuesday.

Police say Furlough was charged following further investigation of the incident and consultation with the State’s Attorney’s Office.

The driver of the PT Cruiser and two passengers in the Explorer were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
