Thursday - 2/23/2012, 8:08am  ET

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Phillips Collection is planning to feature artists Jasper Johns and Antony Gormley in two major exhibits this summer in Washington.

The museum has announced its first exhibition of Johns' work with "Jasper Johns: Variations on a Theme." It will include 90 works created between 1960 to 2011, tracing the artist's entire career in printmaking.

At the same time, the museum will present the first major U.S. exhibit of drawings by Gormley. The British artist is best known for sculpture, installations and public projects. It will include many works on paper, as well as recent sculpture to emphasize their connection.

In a statement, Phillips director Dorothy Kosinski says the museum is excited to introduce Gormley to an American audience.

Both exhibits will be on view June 2 through Sept. 9.
