NORFOLK, Va. - The Virginia Zoo's squirrel monkey family has a new member.
A squirrel monkey named Marie gave birth either late Friday night or early Saturday morning. Zookeeper Audbry Hall said Wednesday in a news release that the baby probably won't be named until its gender is determined.
Other members of the zoo's squirrel monkey family are the baby's father, Jeebes, and two other adult females.
Executive director Greg Bockheim says it's the 18th squirrel monkey born at the zoo since 1967.
