ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Bicycling supporters are hoping to get the attention of state lawmakers in Annapolis, where they are holding the 15th Annual Maryland State Bicycle Symposium.
Items on the agenda include Bike Maryland's legislative agenda, bicycle sharing programs, tourism, commuting and other bicycle-related issues. This year's legislative agenda includes support for bills on distracted driving that would allow officers to stop drivers for using a hand-held mobile phone, allow bicycles on sidewalks, and allow utility easements to be used to create trails. Another bill would require bike and pedestrian paths to be included in campus plans for public colleges and universities.
The symposium runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the President's Conference Center in the Miller Senate Building.
