NORFOLK, Va. - Three men who hauled drugs to Hampton Roads in tractor trailers are facing long prison terms.
The Virginian-Pilot ( http://bit.ly/zQGVZI) reports that they distributed thousands of pounds of marijuana and dozens of kilograms of cocaine.
Tuesday, 45-year-old David A. Wheeler of Houston was sentenced in federal court in Norfolk to 21 years and eight months in prison. One day earlier, a 49-year-old accomplice, Samuel Lloyd of Stone Mountain, Ga., was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Another co-conspirator, 49-year-old Earl R. Fuller Jr. of Virginia Beach, has already been sentenced to life in prison. He received a mandatory life term primarily because of his criminal record.
Authorities said the trio and others involved used trucks with hidden compartments to bring the drugs here from Texas and Atlanta between 2004 and 2010.
