RICHMOND, Va. - Energy efficiency, solar power and regulatory reform are on the agenda at the Virginia General Assembly as clean energy business owners and advocates lobby lawmakers.
The Sierra Club is promoting Thursday's 2nd annual Renewable Energy Business Lobby Day. The day was kicked off by a news conference with leaders of clean and renewable energy.
Bill Greenleaf of the Richmond Region Energy Alliance said most Virginia homeowners could see energy savings of 10 percent to 30 percent through efficiency measures. He said Virginia, however, doesn't do enough to promote energy efficiency.
Other speakers promoted offshore winds and solar power.
The renewable energy advocates are promoting legislation would provide incentives for renewable energy and require green building standards for new public buildings and renovations, among others.
