Trim down the calories even when dining out

WASHINGTON – It’s D.C. Restaurant week and there are lot of great deals in the area. But trying new recipes doesn’t mean breaking the calorie bank. Just follow a few simple tips when you sit down to eat.

Researchers have been studying women who dine out frequently and noticed that ordering a la carte is a great way to whittle down on portion size. Also, consider splitting a main course or dessert.

Ask for a to go box with your meal, then slide half of it in before you even start eating.

Don’t forget to slow down. It takes your body 20 minutes to feel full. Even chewing food more can help reduce how much you eat.
