One easy step to a healthier 2012: Breakfast

WASHINGTON — If you’re trying to live healthier in 2012, there’s something you should stop doing: skipping breakfast.

Many of us eat something small or nothing at all in the morning, but research shows eating breakfast and making it the biggest meal of your day can really pay off.

A study in the International Journal of Obesity found mice that are fed a high-fat meal at the end of the day tend to gain weight.

Other studies show regularly eating breakfast can help you stay energetic and focused during the day, fight colds and flu and even live longer.

These are some of the “10 Reasons To Eat Breakfast,” compiled by The Daily Meal.

In addition, an analysis by the Department of Agriculture earlier this year found on average eggs are lower in cholesterol and higher in Vitamin D today than they were ten years ago.
