VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded more than $1.2 million to help fight homelessness in Virginia Beach.
The city says the funding will go toward nine homeless programs operating through Virginia Beach's Continuum of Care. Among others, recipients include the Virginia Beach Community Development Corp., Samaritan House and Community Alternatives Management Group.
The city says the funding will help ensure these housing and service programs remain operating in 2012.
