PRINCE GEORGE, Va. - Prince George County officials are warning residents about a scam involving donations to police.

County police say a form is being circulated in the mail that states that it is collecting money for the Prince George County police department. The mailer asks residents to provide their credit card information to make a donation.

The department says it does not solicit for donations through the mail or by phone, and that any such requests should be ignored.

Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call the Prince George County Police at 804-733-2773 or Crime Solvers at 804-733-2777.
