VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - An inmate in the Virginia Beach jail is charged with trying to hire someone to kill a judge.
Virginia Beach police say 37-year-old David Hugh Hance offered $5,000 to have a Circuit Court judge killed. Police are not identifying the judge.
The Sheriff's Office, which runs the jail, learned about the offer on Dec. 5 and contacted city police.
Hance was charged with trying to solicit someone to commit capital murder for hire. He will be arraigned Jan. 31.
An attorney was to be appointed for Hance on Tuesday.
