WASHINGTON - Registration for the 37th Marine Corps Marathon, which has a race course that winds through Virginia and the nation's capital, sold out in a less than three hours.

Registration for the marathon opened at 3 p.m. Wednesday on the race's website. All 30,000 registration spots sold out in two hours, 41 minutes.

Last year, registration closed in 28 hours.

The 2012 race will take place Oct. 28.
