NORFOLK,Va. - The Virginia Opera and ousted artistic director Peter Mark have resolved their differences.
The Norfolk-based opera's board voted last week to name Mark artistic director emeritus.
Mark had served as the opera's since its first season in 1975 until he was dismissed in November 2010. He later formed his own company, Lyric Opera Virginia.,
Virginia Opera president and CEO Russell Allen told The Virginian-Pilot ( http://bit.ly/Jw3jr0) that it's too early to comment on whether Mark's new title will involve any duties or activities.
An attorney who represented Mark , Robert E. Brown, told the newspaper that the emeritus title vindicates Mark and honors him and his service.
