WASHINGTON -- Prince George's County Police have charged a man in a double homicide earlier this month in which a mother and son were shot dead in their home.
Quindell Glen Mercer, 34, is charged with first and second degree murder after police say he killed Patricia Harris, 56, and her son, Frank Harris Jr., 20, on Aug. 4 at their Fort Washington home on the 11800 block of Hickory Drive.
Police say Mercer was arrested on Aug. 22 after he was seen throwing a book bag containing four handguns from his bedroom window on the 6600 block of District Heights Parkway in District Heights.
Detectives traced one of the guns contained inside the bag, a Desert Eagle .45 caliber handgun, as a match for the weapon used to kill Harris and her son.
Frank Harris Sr., the husband and father of the victims, found the bodies in their home and immediately notified police.
Police ask anyone with information about the case to contact them at (301) 772-4952.
