A sport utility vehicle struck a bicyclist in Buckeystown Sunday, seriously injuring the 42-year-old cyclist who was flown by helicopter from the scene to a trauma center, police reported.
Frank J. Vetter of Frederick didn't stop at a stop sign before turning his bicycle from eastbound Lilypons Road onto Md. 85, where a 2005 Ford Escape struck him in a northbound lane, according to Maryland State Police.
A state police helicopter flew Vetter, who had been wearing his bicycle helmet at the time of the 11:30 a.m. crash, to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, police said.
