Woman falls to death from roof of W Hotel

WASHINGTON - A woman is dead after falling or jumping 10 stories from the rooftop bar of the W Hotel, long known for its expansive view of the nation's capital.
The hotel, which used to be known as Hotel Washington, is catty-corner to the White House at 15th St NW and Pennsylvania Avenue NW.
Witnesses told police the woman had been drinking at the bar before she climbed over a patio fence.
Pete Piringer, spokesman for D.C. Fire and EMS, tells The Washington Post minutes later the woman was seen hanging by her hands from an overhang one story below the bar.
The woman fell approximately 10 stories. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
