WASHINGTON - A spokeswoman for the District of Columbia police says the department is investigating allegations that off-duty officers were involved in an assault outside a nightclub.
The alleged assault occurred June 10 outside the Lotus nightclub in downtown D.C.
Attorney Ronald Karp says his client, Walter Blair, was assaulted outside the club by at least two men he says were bouncers dressed in all black. He says his client lost an eye in the assault and was merely caught in the middle of an altercation outside the club while celebrating his 24th birthday.
D.C. police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump says the department is investigating reports that the alleged attackers were off-duty officers, but declined further comment.
No charges had been brought as of Wednesday afternoon.
