WASHINGTON - Arlington County Police say a woman was found dead in her car Wednesday morning, following a small fire in a parking garage.
Police have identified the woman as Adele Lapinell, 74, of Annandale.
Detective Crystal Nosal says police were called to a report of a car fire in a parking garage in the 900 block of North Stafford Street in Arlington at about 8:30 a.m.
The garage is located between the Arlington Hilton and a condominium, and is likely used by the Hilton as a general garage, Nosal says.
Lapinell was found dead inside the car after the small fire was put out.
Police say the car was driven into the corner wall of the underground garage, striking a natural gas line and causing a fire.
Police describe it as a small fire, and say neither the car nor Lapinell were fully engulfed.
The initial investigation points to an accidental death.
