D.C. Council approves $9.4 billion budget

Tuesday - 6/5/2012, 2:56pm  ET

WASHINGTON - The D.C. Council has approved a $9.4 billion budget plan that includes longer bar hours on some days and an expansion of traffic cameras that ticket drivers.

The D.C. Council gave final approval to the budget Tuesday. The Council already gave preliminary approval to the plan in May.

The plan includes extending bar hours to 4 a.m. on 19 nights next year, including holidays and certain weekend holidays. The plan would also double the number of traffic cameras in the city and allow changes to parking meter fees. The parking changes, which include raising the price of parking during high demand times, could generate an extra $3 million for the city.
