WASHINGTON - Thousands of people from across the country gathered at the Lincoln Memorial at sunrise for an Easter service.

"It's a pretty wonderful view, and to watch the sunrise come up over the monuments in the morning, and watch the sunrise is pretty special," said one woman.

It was a good morning to be out on the National Mall too, with temperatures at sunrise already in the 50s.

The sunrise service at the Lincoln Memorial is an annual tradition for some people, for others it was a first time.

"it's definitely important for us to see, I mean this is when Jesus got up I guess in the morning," said one man there with his wife.
