MARANA, Ariz. (AP) Snow in Arizona's high desert has caused a suspension of first-round play at the Match Play Championships with 10 of the 32 matches yet to tee it up. They'll resume the round tomorrow morning, weather permitting.

MINNEAPOLIS With the NBA's trade deadline just one day away, the relative quiet on the market may be speaking volumes. The new collective bargaining agreement will start bringing far more punitive penalties for teams exceeding the salary cap next season.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) Being just the third goalie in NHL history to win his first eight decisions must be worth something. And it is -- just ask Viktor Fasth (fahst). The 30-year-old rookie from Sweden has agreed to a $5.8 million two-year contract extension with the Anaheim Ducks, who have the second-best record in the NHL at 12-2-1.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) New England Patriots rookie Alfonzo Dennard is facing the prospect of spending up to six years behind bars. The former Nebraska cornerback has been convicted of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest in Lincoln, Neb., last year, five days before the 2011 Big Ten defensive back of the year was taken by the Pats in the seventh round of the draft.

SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) Kansas City manager Ned Yost rejoined the Royals today, less than 24 hours after having his gall bladder removed. He was working with an ice pack under his uniform jersey. Yost says it had been bothering him for two years, but began "acting up" in spring training.
