Griffin says he just wants to see Redskins win

WASHINGTON – Robert Griffin III said he would do what’s needed to help his team, in brief comments to the media after it was announced that the star QB would be benched.

A disappointed Griffin made the comments as he walked to the locker room Thursday, CSN reported.

“Coach’s decision,” Griffin said. “I’m here to help this team win.”

Coach Jay Gruden benched RGIII in favor of Colt McCoy for this Sunday’s game in Indianapolis.

The third-year quarterback was originally scheduled to speak with the media but his appearance was scrapped ahead of Gruden’s 3 p.m. announcement.

Griffin’s short answers were akin to his statements following the team’s loss to the Bucs coming off the bye week at FedEx Field. He answered repeatedly to any and all questions with “focused on San Francisco” and “preparing for San Francisco” as well as “want to get a win against San Francisco.”

It looks like another lost season for Griffin, the team, and not to mention some high draft picks wasted to acquire the franchise the quarterback back in 2012.
