RG3 featured in goofy new Gatorade ad

From selfies and funny socks, Robert Griffin III has been never been afraid to have a little fun.

In a new Gatorade ad campaign, Washington’s quarterback is now dabbling as a superhero — and thankfully the accompanying TV spot doesn’t carry the controversy that came with those “All in for Week 1” Adidas ads from a year ago.

For a second consecutive year, Gatorade partnered with DC Entertainment to create digital comics featuring “football superheroes.” Griffin made this year’s installment, earning the tres-centric moniker “Triiiple Impact.”

“One second he’s throwing a TD Pass, the next second he’s dashing down the sideline for a 60-yard run. Well-rounded on and off the field, ‘Triiiple Impact’ beats you with a combination of his arm, legs and mind,” reads a Gatorade descriptor of RG3’s new alter ego.

In the TV ad, a Griffin… err… Triiiple Impact bottle of Gatorade is seen resting sideways on a store shelf. It tells the other bottles it’s doing pushups. Then it requests help getting up. Somewhat unbelievably, Triiiple Impact doesn’t take any shots at the Shanahans.

It’s a funny ad, but it’s nowhere close to Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper’s glowing red orb Gatorade commercial from the spring.
