WASHINGTON - The frustration continues to mount regarding the Pierre Garcon situation.
Garcon signed to the Redskins in the offseason and was expected to be the team's no. 1 wide receiver heading into the year, but he was hurt on his 88-yard touchdown reception in the Skins' opening day win in New Orleans.
He then missed the next two games - totaling eight receptions for 153 yards and a touchdown in three games.
When asked about his foot injury that prevented him from playing Sunday against the Vikings, he said he was experiencing "every day pain."
"It wasn't hurting more," he says. "It was just pain I've been dealing with for a long time."
Coach Mike Shanahan continues to be frustrated by the situation. He says he doesn't have a feel for what the injury is and called it a "mystery."
"We're going to hopefully give him a little time to get that thing healed," he says. "How long will it take? We don't know … But he's a tough guy. If he could go, he would go. I don't want to set him back for the rest of the season." So, they continue to wait.
One thing is for certain, quarterback Robert Griffin III is ready for Garcon to be back on the field.
"Pierre is one of the best wide receivers in the league," Griffin says. "We'd love to have him out there."
Let's hope that is sooner than later. The schedule does not get any easier from here on out.
