Chippy loss has Redskins pining for regular refs

Monday - 9/17/2012, 3:49pm  ET

ASHBURN, Va. - Washington Redskins linebacker London Fletcher says the replacement officials are "just so inconsistent that it definitely has an effect on the games."

Cornerback DeAngelo Hall jokes that he's ready to chip in a couple of million dollars and take up a collection to get the regular guys back.

The Redskins were reviewing the refs as much as they were they own play Monday. Players say the officials lost control of the 31-28 loss to St. Louis. The game was chippy from the start, with players constantly in each other's faces.

The temperamental day culminated when Joshua Morgan threw the ball at Cortland Finnegan to retaliate after a post-play shove on Washington's final drive. Morgan's penalty turned a potential tying 47-yard field goal attempt into a 62-yarder that wasn't close.
