Panthers RB Williams active against Saints

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams is active for Thursday night’s game against the New Orleans Saints.

Williams, the Panthers’ all-time leading rusher, has missed the last four games with an ankle injury and six games in all this season. He’s expected to split time in the backfield with Jonathan Stewart.

The Panthers will be without three starting offensive linemen — left tackle Byron Bell and guards Amini Silatolu and Trai Turner. Running back Fozzy Whittaker, wide receiver Philly Brown, cornerback Bene Benwikere and safety Thomas DeCoud are also inactive.

Running back Khiry Robinson and center Jonathan Goodwin are inactive for the Saints after being listed as questionable. Running back Pierre Thomas, fullback Austin Johnson, wide receiver Nick Toon, cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste and linebacker David Hawthorne are also out.
