CINCINNATI (AP) -- Bengals middle linebacker Rey Maualuga hurt his left knee and was taken off the field on a cart during the second quarter of a game against the New York Jets on Sunday.
Maualuga got his left leg twisted beneath him in a pileup while trying to make a tackle with 4:01 left in the first half. He got a cheer from the fans and waved as he was taken off on a cart. He also was evaluated for a concussion on the play.
Vontaze Burfict can move from his outside linebacker spot into the middle. Maualuga hasn't missed a game since 2011, when he sat out three with a sprained ankle.
Left tackle Andrew Whitworth was on the sideline for the final series of the half with a knee injury. His return was questionable. Whitworth missed most of training camp with knee problems, but has started every game.
Safety Taylor Mays was slow getting up after making the tackle on the final play of the half, but walked off the field.
The Bengals led 28-6 at halftime on Andy Dalton's four touchdown passes, which tied his career high. Marvin Jones had three of the touchdown catches, tying a team record. Chad Johnson was the previous Bengals receiver with three in a game, doing it in 2007.
