No. 6 goes down...Cincinnati hangs on...Mickelson's lead shrinks

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Pittsburgh improves to 2-3 against ranked teams this season with a 65-55 upset of No. 6 Syracuse. The Panthers out-rebounded the Orange 39-24 and held Syracuse to 37 percent shooting from the field.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- Twenty-fourth-ranked Cincinnati blew almost all of a 20-point lead before holding on for their fifth win in six games. The Bearcats topped Seton Hall 65-59 to get to 18-4 on the season.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- After bringing a four-shot lead into the third round of the Phoenix Open, Phil Mickelson made the turn with a three-stroke advantage over red-hot Padraig (PAH'-drig) Harrington, who was 8-under on the day through 15. Mickelson was 2-under on the day through nine holes and minus-19 for the tournament

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Single-season sacks leader Michael Strahan (TRAY'-han), offensive linemen Jonathan Ogden, defensive tackle Warren Sapp, running back Jerome Bettis and wide receivers Cris Carter, Tim Brown and Andre Reed are among the finalists for the 2013 class at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The winners will be announced today in New Orleans, where the Ravens and 49ers will play Super Bowl 47 tomorrow.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- The Sharks will be looking to improve the best start in franchise history when they host the Nashville Predators tonight. At 7-0-0, San Jose is the NHL's only undefeated team.
