Redskins win NFC East...Broncos and Pats get first-round byes

LANDOVER, Md. (AP) -- The Washington Redskins are NFC East champions for the first time since 1999. In a win-or-go-home game, rookie running back Alfred Morris ran for 200 yards and three touchdowns and the Redskins defeated Dallas 28-18 to earn a first-round home playoff game against Seattle next Sunday.

DENVER (AP) -- The Denver Broncos are No. 1 seed in the AFC following their 38-3 rout of Kansas City for their 11th straight victory. Peyton Manning tossed two more TD passes to give him 37 on the season.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -- The New England Patriots earned also earned a playoff bye with a 28-0 win over the Miami Dolphins, their first shutout since 2009. Stevan Ridley ran for two touchdowns as New England used a ball-control offense and a defense that racked up a season-high seven sacks.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Adrian Peterson came within 9 yards of Eric Dickerson's rushing record on Sunday, finishing with 199 yards and powering the Minnesota Vikings into the playoffs, 37-34 over Green Bay. That forced a rematch with the Packers next weekend in an NFC wild-card game.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Andy Reid is out after 14 years coaching the Philadelphia Eagles. That's what three people familiar with the decision told The Associated Press following Sunday's 42-7 season-ending loss to the New York Giants.
