PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid says Michael Vick suffered a "pretty significant' concussion and told the quarterback to stay home and rest. Reid says he could not immediately rule out Vick for Sunday's game at Washington but he made it sound likely that rookie Nick Foles will get the start.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Philadelphia 76ers center Andrew Bynum will miss at least five more weeks because of a bone bruise in his right knee and may not play in a game until early January. When Bynum was hurt in mid-September, the team initially hoped its newly acquired star would be ready for the season opener Oct. 31. Late last month, though, the Sixers said he was out indefinitely.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida coach Will Muschamp says quarterback Jeff Driskel is doubtful for Saturday's game against Jacksonville State and that Jacoby Brissett will likely start in his place. Driskel sprained his right ankle in the third quarter of Saturday's 27-20 win over Louisiana-Lafayette and probably won't practice this week.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- The Carrier Classic will return to the USS Yorktown to open the college basketball season despite last weekend's cancelled contest between Ohio State and Marquette. The Friday night game was called off when condensation on the court made it too dangerous for the players. Organizers think they have an engineering solution to correct the issue.
CHICAGO (AP) -- Jozy Altidore (JOH'-zee AL'-tih-door) is back on the U.S. men's roster for its final game of the season, after a two-game snub. Altidore was among the 20 players named by coach Jurgen Klinsmann for Wednesday's exhibition game against Russia. Klinsmann had dropped Altidore from the roster for a pair of critical World Cup qualifiers because he was disappointed with the forward's performance.
