Former NFL player fired from Bowie State University after body-slamming student (Video)

WASHINGTON — Bowie State University has fired its assistant football coach
after a video captured him body-slamming a student.

Former NFL defensive end Charles Grant was a volunteer coach at the school. In
the video, obtained and posted by
TMZ
, Grant appears to slam a student to the ground and then into the
bleachers.

The video shows the former New Orleans Saints player cursing at the student as
well.

Bowie State officials released a brief statement saying the school has zero
tolerance of behavior that violates their core values and jeopardizes
student-athletes.

The victim is a student-athlete at Bowie State, however, his identity has not
yet been released, according to TMZ.

“We’ve talked to the victim. We’ve interviewed witnesses. We have had several
conversations with Mr. Grant over the phone, but nothing formal,” a Bowie
State University police spokesperson said to TMZ. Police say they are
conducting an investigation.
