TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Former NFL and University of Arizona kicker Max Zendejas has been sentenced to six years of probation for his role in damaging a restaurant space he leased from the school.
The 51-year-old Zendejas also was ordered Monday to pay $68,000 restitution.
He pleaded guilty in August to two counts of criminal damage.
Zendejas opened a Mexican restaurant and bar called Zendejas 13 across the street from Arizona Stadium in 2010.
State prosecutors accused Zendejas of stripping the restaurant of a walk-in refrigerator, HVAC system, compressors, ceiling fans and kitchen sinks worth thousands of dollars after the business closed in 2013.
Zendejas played for the Wildcats from 1982-85 and holds the school record for career points with 360.
He spent three seasons in the NFL with Washington and Green Bay.
