BAD GASTEIN, Austria (AP) — Flavia Pennetta pulled out of the Gastein Ladies clay-court event with an ankle injury shortly before her opening match on Monday.

Also, eighth-seeded Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic hit seven aces while beating Mona Barthel of Germany 6-4, 6-4.

In a match between two Austrian wildcards, Lisa-Maria Moser defeated Yvonne Neuwirth 6-2, 6-4.
