WASHINGTON - The final week of calendar year 2012 is another busy one when it comes to live play-by-play on WFED 1500AM with play-by-play broadcasts of Wizards and George Washington basketball and Ravens and Navy football.
· Friday, Dec. 28, 7 p.m., Wizards vs. Orlando (WFED 1500AM
The Wizards' final home game of calendar year 2012 will be played Friday against the Orlando Magic (12-15, through Wednesday).
The Magic beat the Wizards 90-83 in Orlando on Dec.19, but Magic forward Glen "Big Baby" Davis left suffered a shoulder injury in the game's final minute and Orlando's second leading scorer is expected to miss the next four-to-six weeks.
Pregame coverage for Friday's matchup begins at 6:45 p.m. with play-by-play voice Dave Johnson and color analyst Glenn Consor.
· Saturday, Dec. 29, 4 p.m., Navy vs. Arizona State (WFED 1500 AM and wfed.com)
The Midshipmen (8-4) close out the football season at the 2012 Kraft Fights Hunger Bowl Saturday at AT&T Park in San Francisco where they will face the Arizona State Sun Devils (7-5) for the first in program history.
The Mids closed out the regular-season winning seven of its final eight games and will be seeking the school's first Bowl game victory since 2009.
Extended pregame coverage begins with the Navy Coaches Show at 2 p.m., with the official Navy pregame show kicking off at 3 p.m. with play-by-play voice Bob Socci, color analyst Omar Nelson and sideline reporter Pete Medhurst.
· Saturday, Dec. 29, 8 p.m., Wizards at Chicago (WFED 1500 Am)
The Wizards visit the Chicago Bulls (15-12, through Wednesday) for the first time this season as the team clash in the Windy City on Saturday.
While the Wizards have struggled mightily this season minus the first overall pick John Wall (201), the Bulls have managed just fine without No.1 pick Derrick Rose (2009). Rose has missed the entire season with a torn ACL, but the Bulls entered the final week of 2012 in first place in the Central Division.
Extended pregame coverage begins with All-Access - a Monumental Sports & Entertainment Production- immediately following Navy Football.
· Sunday, Dec. 30, 1 p.m., Ravens at Bengals (WFED 1050AM)
The Ravens (10-5) close out the regular-season with a possible playoff preview as they visit the Cincinnati Bengals (9-6) Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium.
The Ravens have already clinched the AFC North Division, but can still finish as the No.3 seed in the conference should they beat the Bengals and the New England Patriots (11-4) fall to the Miami Dolphins (7-8).
The combination of a Baltimore win and a New England loss would mean a first-round playoff showdown between the Ravens and the (guaranteed) sixth seeded Bengals next weekend in Baltimore.
Pregame coverage this Sunday begins at 12:30 p.m. with play-by-play voice Gerry Sandusky, color analyst Qadry Ismail and sideline reporter Stan White.
· Sunday, Dec. 30, 2 p.m., George Washington vs. Sacred Heart (WFED 1500AM)
The Colonials (5-6) play their final non-conference home game of the season Sunday afternoon as they take on the Sacred Heart Pioneers (2-8) at Charles E. Smith Center.
GW will look to build on last Saturday's 76-67 win against VMI while the Pioneers will try to snap a six-game losing streak.
Pregame coverage with play-by-play voice Byron Kerr begins at 1:45 p.m. on WFED 1500AM and online at wfed.com.
