HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) - Kendall Anthony hit a free throw with 5 seconds left in overtime to lift Richmond over James Madison 83-82 Saturday for a nonconference win.
Richmond is 8-2 for the second time in three years.
Anthony hit his foul shot after the Dukes' Devon Moore hit a layup and two free throws over a 66-second span to tie the game 82-all with 20 seconds left.
Moore had 19 points and eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career late in the first half. He's the 26th player in James Madison (3-6) history to reach the mark.
Cedrick Lindsay hit 5 of 6 free throws for Richmond in the final 1:28 of regulation, including a pair with 3 seconds left to square the score at 73 and send the game to overtime.
Darien Brothers led Richmond with 18 points on four 3-pointers.
The game was the first between the Virginia rivals since 2001.
