ABINGDON, Va. (AP) -- A statewide search committee has narrowed to 10 the field of candidates seeking to become Virginia Highlands Community College's next president.
Virginia Highlands spokeswoman Anne Dunham tells the Bristol Herald Courier (http://bit.ly/1lLm51N ) that the committee will interview the candidates and narrow the field to three or four. These finalists will visit the school's Abingdon campus sometime in April.
Eighty people applied to succeed President Ron Proffit, who plans to retire at the end of June.
An online survey will be conducted in April and sent to the school's board. The board will conduct a final interview and then make a recommendation to Glen DuBois, chancellor of the state community college system. DuBois is expected to name a new president in May.
