Ohio State to hold presidential search symposium

Friday - 8/16/2013, 6:30pm  ET

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- The board of trustees of Ohio State University will summon current and former university leaders from across the country in a public forum aimed at assisting in the search for the university's new president.

The board on Friday announced that among those attending the forum will be the presidents of Tulane University and University of Virginia. The group will discuss the challenges university presidents face.

The school's presidential search committee also on Friday revealed the hiring of the national consulting firm R. William Funk and Associates, which specializes in higher education president and chancellor searches.

The committee is seeking a replacement for former president Gordon Gee (ghee), who retired in July a month after remarks in which he jabbed Roman Catholics and Southeastern Conference schools were made public.
