GLEN BURNIE, Md. (AP) -- A National Guardsman detained at an Anne Arundel County high school is receiving emergency psychiatric care after the police seized an AK-47 assault rifle and other firearms from his home.
Police say 25-year-old Justin Matthew Beaumont has been charged with misdemeanor trespassing after slipping into North County High School through a rear door on Monday.
Police say Beaumont was not armed when he entered the school. Police say Beaumont didn't have a clear explanation for the staff about why he was at the school, but mentioned having been bullied when he attended there years ago. Officers later searched his home and found a loaded semiautomatic weapon and other unloaded rifles and firearms.
Police say the guns were legally owned.
He's receiving a psychiatric evaluation at Sheppard Pratt Hospital in Towson.
