SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. (AP) - The Trentwood Irrigation District says water samples have tested clean of harmful bacteria or other substances. The Spokane Valley district said Wednesday the water is safe to drink.
KHQ reports ( http://is.gd/gUVSV3) the brown color Tuesday was caused by dirt falling into a well. While not pleasant, it's not harmful.
The district had advised 1,600 customers to boil drinking water until the health tests came in.
Three Spokane Valley schools _ East Valley High School, East Valley Middle School and Trentwood Elementary _ sent students home Tuesday because of brown water in drinking fountains.
The East Valley School District says schools reopened Wednesday.
