University of Baltimore names law school dean finalists

Friday - 3/23/2012, 9:49am  ET

BALTIMORE (AP)- The University of Baltimore has chosen finalists in its search for a new law school dean.

The Baltimore Sun reports the five candidates include Nicholas Allard, a lawyer at Washington firm Patton Boggs; Penelope Bryan, dean of Whittier Law School in California; and Alfredo Garcia, a professor and former dean at St. Thomas University Law School in Miami. Patricia Salkin, a professor and associate dean at Albany Law School in New York and Ronald Weich, an assistant attorney general at the U.S. Department of Justice, have also been picked.

The school is seeking a replacement for Philip Closius, who is on the law school faculty. Closius resigned last year because of a dispute with President Robert Bogomolny over the school's reliance on law school revenues to support other programs.
