Making a Cyber Monday click count!

You can buy a gift for someone you DON'T know but who could really use it. YPT, Young Playwrights' Theater which inspires young people to realize the power of their own voices hopes in 2014 to provide hundreds of new students with free in-school and after-school arts education programming and performances of their OWN original plays. Click here to donate:
$10 buys a writing portfolio and writing supplies - helping one student to develop her very first play and discover the power of her own stories.
$25 provides a local student with his very first playwriting workshop - showing him the value of his dreams and ideas.
$50 supports the performance of one student-written play - bringing a student's words to life on a professional stage and showing her that her voice matters.
Also, YPT says that "through a generous matching gift from the Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation, all donations received by December 31st will be DOUBLED in size and impact. No matter what you choose to give, your gift will go twice as far as YPT works to bring arts education to every kid."

Born to be skins fans

Mix the Redskins & Dallas with a holiday the following day and you have a prescription for fun! But Andy Duffy wanted to be sure so he came up with a promotion for his Duffy's Irish Pub across from the 930 Club.. and it worked.. he filled the place. His offer?? "Everyone wearing Skins gear gets a free shot of Jameson each time Tony Romo throws an interception!" There was only one, but the shots went over very well with patrons David and Sabrina Poms of Bethesda. They are brother and sister who have been Skins fans since birth. Their father was so obsessed with the team that before Super Bowl XXVI he bought both toddlers Redskin Onesies. Of course, the Skins won that year beating the Bills 37-24. We won't talk about Sunday's loss to Dallas. Here are photos of David and Sabrina in 1992 and last night at Duffy's Irish Pub.

Does country music have a monopoly on patriotism??

No! Neil Diamond has the pop scene covered and now "Madison Rising" is grabbing the patriotic heavy rock n roll scene. Philadelphia based Madison Rising promotes the principles of liberty, independence and personal responsibility. They have a Facebook page which is offering a Fourth of July free download of their song "American Dream".
