JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A Republican congressman from north Mississippi says he will have surgery to remove a small mass found on his brain
Rep. Alan Nunnelee was hospitalized in May after experiencing nausea and fatigue, with doctors finding what a mass on the right side of his brain.
In a statement from his office Thursday, the two-term congressman says further tests at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston confirmed the mass was isolated.
The 55-year-old says his staff will keep him informed of constituent and legislative business during his recovery. The statement didn’t say how long his recovery would take.
Nunnelee served several years in the state Senate before being elected to the U.S. House in 2010. He is seeking re-election.
